September 20-24, 2011

In commemoration of the spirit and life work of Dr. Nana Baffour Amankwatia II (Dr. Asa Grant Hilliard III)

Within the last decade alone, evidence has been unearthed in the field of agricultural and pastoral science, architecture, aeronautics, engineering, mathematics, mining, metallurgy and medicine, navigation and physics, that has made the whole ground, upon which conventional studies of Africa have been built, rock violently with the shock of astonishing discoveries. These are astonishing only because the nerve of the world has been deadened for centuries to the vibrations of African genius. – Ivan Van Sertima

The organizing committee of The Nile Valley Conference II: From the Nile to the Niger to the Mississippi invites you to join us in Atlanta, Georgia, September 21-24, where a gathering of scholars will present the latest research and information on the rich contributions of Nile Valley civilization – the oldest classical civilization in the history of the world. Multiple co-conveners – the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, the King International Chapel at Morehouse College, the Per Ma'at Foundation, the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations and others – will host a dynamic community of researchers, writers, and lecturers to present expanded and ever-evolving knowledge of the world's founding civilization in northeast Africa. Such notables as Theophile Obenga, Louise Diop-Maes, Charles Finch, Robert Schoch, Kimathi Carr, and Anthony Browder are just a sample of the ground-breaking presenters who will detail the latest information transforming the way we see the history of ancient Africa and, indeed, the world of antiquity. This memorable occasion will be immeasurably enhanced by speakers who will discuss the Timbuktu manuscripts, some going back 1,000 years, which have been resurfacing in the last decade-and-a-half and are supplying the world with the missing pages of world history – secrets from the Nile Valley revealed.
